Panasonic's new DMR-EX200V
It looks decidedly oldschooltastic, but don't get the wrong idea about Panasonic's new DMR-EX200V. Just because it
does VHS doesn't mean you should look over its 250GB drive, DVD burner, 4-in-1 card reader, or what it can do for
you—namely transform those old VHS tapes of your 'rents into neatly formatted files, DVDs, or ready-to-go SD cards. Um,
if your parents (and you) are Japanese, anyway.

Is it regioned? (New word there I believe.) If not I'm so getting one of these!
Why is it that Japan gets all the cool gadgets that we want? *shakes fist*

Ugh! Old-school may work for sneakers, but not for electronics. And this beast is proof; it's plain fugly!

I believe the word your looking for is 'retro' not 'fugly'. I like the look of it.

1,4: simple. shipping costs...

Does it have a top loading dvd tray and a wired remote? Radical!

Cool stuff comes out in Japan because the general consumer there is willing to pay more more cash for electronics. Here where the $39 WalMart DVD player is king they have to make sure there's sufficient demand and they can price it low enough.

Looks like my old Beta deck! Works great for people who still have console televisions.
The design is fine to me, but it'll be 'kinda difficult to find it unobtrusive, if only the companies made early '80s boomboxes now.
pAiNkIlLaH @ Dec 19th 2005 1:05AM
Come on, how retro can you get? This beast is definately lacking the beauty hidden inside. I have seen Hackers at the Flea Market with a better design.

Yes, but can it handle SVHS and DVHS (DVHS being a hi-def format) too?
TheUndertow @ Dec 19th 2005 1:05AM
A top loading tray would be classic.
I like the look of it too - and Panas kick ass.
Casey @ Dec 19th 2005 1:05AM
This thing looks like it just time-warped in from the 80's.
tekdemon @ Dec 19th 2005 1:05AM
John Connor...I have been sent back from the future to dub your VHS tapes before they fade!
hashashin @ Dec 19th 2005 1:05AM
I believe you meant to say 'overlook' rather than 'look over' there. Pesky English language.
